Position Summary...

What you'll do...

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Software Engineer with a specialty in Edge Computing. The ideal candidate will have a superior knowledge of software development, optimized code writing, and a proficiency in low-level languages such as C , Rust, or Go. The successful candidate will be tasked with writing memory-safe code to be deployed in a high throughput, low latency, and memory-bound edge computing environment.

About Team:

The Modeling and Offline Simulation team is responsible for building, monitoring, and improving Computer Vision based applications to enhance Walmart's Asset Protection strategy. Members of this team deliver on high visibility applications deployed in real-world environments by leveraging strong theoretical backgrounds in AI/ML with practical software engineering experience.
What you'll do:

1. Write, optimize, and maintain software applications for edge computing.
2. Create memory-safe code in low-level languages suitable for high throughput, low latency, and memory-bound environments.
3. Refactor existing CPU-based code to run on the GPU, optimizing for performance and efficiency.
4. Develop and fine-tune algorithms for edge computing, focusing on efficient use of computational and memory resources.
5. Collaborate with a cross-functional team to understand requirements, create solutions, and improve existing systems.
6. Perform thorough performance analysis to identify bottlenecks, propose solutions, and enhance overall system performance.
7. Ensure the production of high-quality software through unit testing, code review, and continuous integration.
8. Keep abreast of the latest edge computing technologies and contribute to the company's technical direction.
9. Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of technical excellence and innovation.

What you'll bring:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
2. Extensive experience as a Software Engineer with a focus on edge computing.
3. Proficiency in writing memory-safe code using low-level languages such as C , Rust, or Go.
4. Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles. 
5. Experience in refactoring CPU-based code to run on the GPU.
6. Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
7. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
8. Up-to-date knowledge of the latest edge computing technologies.
